Built in 1915, the original, federation era “house” that contains Studio 281 Gallery is converted to present a charming and fully equipped gallery space. The public are invited to view the work of local and international, emerging and established visual artists.

Behind the exhibition space, our busy framing workshop provides a fully comprehensive framing service to the gallery patrons and local community. Custom frames to preserve and showcase delicate items are our speciality. You name it, we frame it!

Picture Hanging

Studio 281 Gallery provide advice on placement of artworks, based on existing furnishings, light sources and other factors. Our experience hanging entire exhibitions (400+ paintings at a time) means you can be confident in our guidance and expertise!

Beyond the original 1930’s “Corner shop” entry, the air conditioned exhibition space is calm and inviting. Studio 281 Gallery offer flexible, well supported exhibition hire options. Complimentary initial consultation is available by appointment.

Studio 281 Gallery actively supports the visual arts industry. We work closely with neighbouring businesses and organisations to provide avenues for artistic practise within the community. Facilitating events such as live art sessions, street art walking tours and street art workshops, promote the importance of visual arts practise.

The Studio 281 Gallery building itself, is a canvas of street art by various artists. Our picture hanging and curation services are utilised by Community Art Awards programmes throughout Perth region. Visual arts practise is important for individual expression and community engagement.

Features of the gallery space include solar powered sensor lights, crisp white walls, contrasting black floorboards and street facing windows - a versatile backdrop to showcase artworks in any style.
