Samara Faye
Born and raised in Perth, Samara Faye uses the paintbrush as her second voice.
Samara’s 2020 exhibition titled “Her Dark Flowers” presented a delicate series of works, produced in dreamy palettes. Each individual painting, flowing with seeming gentleness and subtlety is the externalisation of perceived personal flaws. In an effort to challenge her own self image, the artist reveals the beauty of perceived imperfections - creating variance and acceptance.
The paintings were displayed alongside a floral installation (also assembled by the artist); an invitation to view yourself through the same lens as flowers; perfect by nature without the constructed societal expectation of perfection.
